Residential Construction > Timber Framing
Timber
framing is a time tested system of construction that offers unique
design elements while providing comfort, security, and a link to
the past. The simplicity, strength and natural beauty of the frame,
combined with the skill of finely crafted pegged joinery embody elements
that are absent from most conventionally framed structures. Energy
efficient stress skin panels or sheets of foam and strapping are
used to create the outer wall and roof system and form a superior
thermal envelope.
From
the intimacy of a cozy library or study with exposed ceiling beams
to a great room with tall vaulted ceilings, timber framing allows
an almost limitless range of design possibilities. An example of
this could be incorporating a timber frame element such as a great
room or a master bedroom addition into a conventionally framed home.
New construction can be all timber frame or a hybrid of timber frame
and stick built construction. If your design requires an antique
look, we can locate, disassemble, transport and reassemble an old
frame to become part of your project.
The McKernon Group has the expertise and experience to make any
of these choices a reality and to see your project through to its
completion. Our architectural designers can help you visualize and
design your dream home. Our crews have erected many different types
of frames and post and beam homes, and we will stay on the job to
install the roofing, windows and doors, siding and trim and then
finish all the interior work as well. As a full service design-build
general contractor, The McKernon Group offers you the choice to work
with one company from permitting, excavation and foundation work,
right through the building process to the fabrication and installation
of custom cabinetry.
